This morning, Friday, October 15, 2021, Ahmed Jazouli participated remotely in an international symposium for “Exchange of Experiences” between deputies and experts from five Arab countries at the invitation of the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies (Jordan). Participants were from Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The intervention of Ahmed Jazouli, Executive Director of TALM, was on: “Transparency and Performance in Parliaments”. He spoke in this first plenary session on the basics of parliamentary representation, openness to civil society, transparency mechanisms including town meetings, hearings, the relationship with the constituency, education on democracy, and the development of technology and making it available for parliamentary work. In his capacity as an international expert in parliamentary affairs, Ahmed Jazouli presented the Moroccan experience on openness and CSOs’ inclusion, especially what’s in the constitution, the internal law of the House of Representatives, and the laws of petitions and legislative requests.  He emphasized that institutionalizing committees’ openness and adopting an openness strategy to the house are keys for consolidating parliamentary performance and strengthening trust with citizens.

Oraib Rantawi, the president of the Center, introduced and facilitated the conference.
